Your Church Needs More Than One Trained Leader

Most churches have a leadership problem they don’t talk about much. The pastor carries the preaching, the counseling, the hospital visits, and every hard theological question, and when someone asks who could step in, there isn’t a clear answer. Plenty of people are willing. Few of them have ever been trained.

Around the world, the problem is even sharper. In many places the man leading a church has never had any formal Bible training. Seminary is too far away, too expensive, or simply not available in his language. He loves the Lord and loves his people, but he’s teaching with whatever he has managed to pick up on his own.

A Leadership Pipeline Starts With One Verse

Paul gave Timothy a simple plan: “What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2). That’s four generations of leaders in one sentence. Paul taught Timothy, Timothy teaches faithful men, and those men teach others.

That’s what a leadership pipeline actually is. Not a program chart or a succession plan in a drawer, but trained people training the next group, over and over.

How BTCP Does It

At the Bible Training Centre for Pastors, we train church leaders in small groups that meet face to face, led by local leaders who have been through the training themselves. Students work through a curriculum covering [Bible survey, theology, interpretation, preaching, and leadership: confirm and adjust], and they don’t just study it. They practice it in their churches as they go.

When they finish, many of them start new groups. That’s how the training has spread to 105 countries and dozens of languages, mostly in places where very few institutions offer this kind of Bible training at all.

It Isn’t Only for Pastors

The name says “pastors,” but the people who benefit most are often the ones beside the pastor: elders, deacons, small group leaders, Sunday school teachers, and members who simply want to understand their Bibles better. Some churches host a Bible institute for their whole congregation, which turns the pastor from the only trained leader into the person training many.

If you’ve ever wished your church had a deeper bench, this is one of the most practical ways to build it.

Where to Start

The easiest first step is a free Interest Meeting. You’ll hear how the training works, what it takes to host a group, and whether it fits your church. Register for an Interest Meeting, or if you have questions first, email us at info@btcp.com.
